AboutDr. Kelvin Frank
Dr. Kelvin J. Frank currently serves as an assistant professor at Florida International University’s Global Forensic and Justice Center (GFJC) and department of Chemistry and Biochemistry where he instructs forensic science courses and manages GJFC’s canine detection program and the recently launched International Commission on Detector Dogs (ICODD)
Dr. Frank’s expertise involves science and standards for training and certifying canine detection teams. His work has focused primarily on the odor chemistry of forensic targets of interest such as drugs, explosives, and mass storage devices. He explores how the understanding of odor chemistry can improve canine training methodologies as well as support the development of electronic detection technologies.
Dr. Frank’s work has been presented at national and international conferences and is the lead author of the book chapter, "Explosive Detection by Dogs" in Counterterrorist Detection Techniques of Explosives 2nd edition. Dr Frank has certified and provided technical support for numerous law enforcement canine departments locally in the state of Florida as well as the wider United States. https://www.linkedin.com/in/kelvin-j-frank
